Are you connected?

Look at those pictures – think about them. Do they make you feel alone, or connected? Being one out of six billion makes me feel so very alone, yet these photos — everyday activities and objects – reveal just how connected we all are.

Sometimes, when I stand outside at night and stare up at the sprinkle of stars tossed across that gray blanket that covers my urban sky, I wonder — are we alone? Then, I think about what might be happening on the other side of the Earth: babies are being born; children are struggling to get an education; slaving in fields, tending to crops; subjugated to sweat shops. People are laughing, crying, drinking, eating, sleeping, and making love.

Others are dying.

But each one of those six billion souls is part of life and living and connected – to each and every one of us.
